SARNATH
Sarnath was the birthplace of Shreyansanath, the Eleventh Tirthankara of Jainism and a temple dedicated to him, is an important pilgrimage site. Also referred to as Isipatana,this city is mentioned by the Buddha as one of the four places of pilgrimage to which his devout followers and it was also the site of the Buddha’s Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, which was his first teaching after attaining enlightenment, in which he taught the four noble truth and the teachings associated with it.
 
BODHGAYA
Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have obtained Enlightenment (Pali Bodhi) under What became known as the Bodhi Tree. For Buddhists, Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main for pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha. Mahabodhi Temple located in Bodh Gaya, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
 
RAJGIR
Rajgir is famous for its hot water springs, locally known as Brahmakund, a sacred place for Hindus. Another major attraction is the peace pagoda, Vishwa Shanti Stupa, built in 1969.One of the 80 peace pagodas in the world, to spread the message of peace and non-violence.
 
NALANDA
Nalanda was an acclaimed Mahavihara, a large Buddhist monastery in the ancient kingdom of Magadha (modern-day-Bihar) and was a centre of learning from the fifth century CE to .c.1200CE.it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
 
VAISHALI
Vaishali is now an archaeological site.GautamaBuddha preached his last sermon before his death in c.483BCE, then in 383 BCE the Second Buddhist council was convened her by King Kalasoka, making it an important place in both Jain and Buddhist religious. It contains one of the best preserved of the Pillars of Ashoka, topped by a single Asiatic Lion.
 
KUSHINAGAR
Kushinagar belongs to the Great Lord Buddha, founder of Buddhism, who delivered his last sermon, attained “Mahaparinirvana” and was cremated at Ramabhar (Kushinagar).Buddha’s cremation was done at “Mukut Bandhan”(Ramabhar),where “Mallas” constructed a big stupa over the ashes.
 
LUMBINI
Lumbini is the place in district of Nepal where according to Buddhist tradition.Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE and founded Buddhism.Lumbini has a number of temples, monuments, monasteries and a museum.
 
KAPILAVASTU
The district’s name comes from the sage Kapila and his followers who built here a city called Kapilavastu.This District was a part of the ancient Shakya Kingdom ruled by king Suddhodana who was the father of Gautama Buddha.
 
SRAVASTI
Shravasti is located near the West Rapti River and is closely associated with the life of Gautama Buddha, who is believed to have spent 24 Chaturmases here. Age-old stupas, majestic viharas and several temples near the village of “Sahet Mahet”establish Buddha’s association with Shravasti. It is said that the Vedic period king, Shravasta, founded this town.
